My husband, mom, and I spent the day (and night) in New York city because of the blackout that was all over the East Coast. We walked from Battery Park (we were on Ellis Island when the power went out) all the way to Penn Station. It was an amazing walk that took us past Ground Zero, Wall Street, and SoHo.
